Lame rumours
Not long ago there was a post with a following discussion on linuxfr.org that speculated about a merger between Mandriva Linux & Mageia Linux and also about that rpm5.org were about to be abandoned..
As rumours of an actual merge of the Mageia & Mandriva communities has already been put to rest, I don’t want to add much further to this, but what about the rpm5 rumour?
I’m not really sure from what exactly this rumour comes from or what it really speculates about, is it about Mandriva Linux’ involvement in rpm5 development? About development upstream? Or..?
Regardless of whatever the rumour comes from, as the current project leader of Mandriva Linux and also as the main rpm developer for the distribution, I can safely put this rumour to rest right away: there are no plans on abandoning rpm5 in Mandriva Linux, I’m still very active in development of rpm5 in the distribution and plan on continuing with this, with the same work being reused directly in ROSA Linux (which I am employed by the company behind) which doesn’t have any plans on abandoning it either.
I am also still active in development of rpm5 upstream, which aren’t abandoned in any way either.
I’m too lazy to start on any lengthy rant on this now, just felt like stating this to end the speculations..
PS: I’m hoping people will come up with some more original and entertaining FUD about rpm rather than rehashing the same ol’ “classics” next? This is rather boring and lacking entertainmaint value. Why aren’t anyone speaking about our recent endorsements from David Hasselhoff??
